The Three Erics

The Three Erics as they appear in the cartoon. Eric Ovens is seen on the left, Eric Bacon is seen in the middle, and Eric Fry is seen on the right.

The Three Erics
(Bacon, Fry, and Ovens) are three similarly-attired students in Mrs. Jewls' class, who do everything together. Their last names are items usually found inside a kitchen. They are the second supporting characters on the show to have their own episode. (According to the Wayside rulebook in every class there should be three students named Eric, no more, no less) They have a pet Goat, Dog, and Cat each named Billy. In one episode, Maurecia takes one of the Eric's glasses to get close to Todd.

Members

  • Eric Fry - The fattest Eric of the Three Erics, as well as the most athletic. He seems to be the leader of the group in the books. He is given the nickname "Butterfingers", however, since the other two Erics are not good at sports. In the cartoon, he resembles the other two Erics to a much greater degree, but can be identified due to being much fatter, while the other two are somewhat skinny.
  • Eric Bacon - The skinniest of the Three Erics. In the books, however, the other two Erics are depicted as being fat, giving him the unfitting nickname of "Fatso". He is somewhat narcissistic, and often tries to lie his way out of trouble. He is seen as rather clever, although self-centered, often thinking of himself more than others. In the cartoon, he resembles the other two Erics to a much greater degree, but can be identified due to his dark skin and tall build.
  • Eric Ovens - The shortest of the Three Erics, as well as the nicest. However, due to the other two Erics being so grumpy due to their unfitting nicknames, he got the nickname "Crabapple". He tends to be the outcast of the Three Erics, which is played up in the cartoon, where his small size often leads to him being ignored. In the cartoon, he resembles the other two Erics to a much greater degree, but can be identified due to his very short stature.

Trivia

  • In the books, the three Erics each have a pet named Billy. Eric Ovens owns a cat named Billy, Eric Bacon owns a dog named Billy, and Eric Fry owns a goat named Billy.
  • The number 22 seems to relate to the Three Erics, since the twenty-second chapters of the first and second books both focus on these characters.
    • Although the episode order of the show is often debated, many claim that "The Three Erics" is the second half of the twenty-second episode.
