Joy is the prettiest student in Mrs. Jewls' class. She is a tomboyish student who enjoys bugging Todd. She can be seen as a kleptomaniac, usually when it comes to others' lunches, though in the case of Dameon, she felt regret afterwards.
Personality
Joy is very tomboyish, and enjoys picking on people and stealing lunches. Despite this, her best friend is Maurecia, who is shown to be rather sweet. Todd is her favorite target, which often becomes a problem for him. She often plays a major role in the books. Despite this, however, she does not appear in the cartoon. Despite her natures, she often escapes being sent home early.
Major Roles
In Sideways Stories from Wayside School, she has a major role in the chapter "Todd", where she constantly bugs Todd as she studies her workbook. However, by the end of the story, her workbook is given to robbers by Todd.
Also in the first book, she has a major role in the chapter "Jason", where she places bubblegum on Jason's desk, which sticks him there. She eventually frees him by kissing him on the nose.
Her other major role in the first book is in the chapter named after herself, "Joy", where she steals Dameon's lunch and puts the blame on many other students. By the end, she gives Dameon her own lunch, which was left at home, that tastes very bad.
Also in the second book, she has a major appearance in "Lost and Found", where Maurecia finds a bag of money, which Joy says they should spend, if not for Maurecia's honesty.
In Wayside School Gets A Little Stranger, she has a major appearance in the chapter "Mr. Poop", where she meets Louis as a boring and strict yard teacher rather than his friendly usual self. Fed up with his new-found attitude, she throws his rulebook into a paint can.
