D.J. is a student from Wayside who was only shown in the books, but was mentioned in the pilot when Mrs. Jewls was doing roll call.
Appearance[]
D.J.'s appearance is rarely described, aside from the fact he has a large smile that stretches across his entire face. In "A Story That Isn't About Socks," D.J.'s "best clothes" is a toga made from his bedsheet. Aside from this, it is not known what D.J. looks like.
Personality[]
D.J. is happy most of the time. He doesn't have a reason to be, but is usually smiling nonetheless. His smile also makes other students happy, even Kathy, who hates everyone. He is also best friends with Dameon and Myron. He is usually seen to be very happy, and has one of the largest smiles in class. Only once has he been seen doing anything that could hurt another student, which is giving Louis permission to kick Terrence over the fence.

- In Sideways Stories from Wayside School, there is a chapter called D.J. where he is happy all the time, but will never tell anyone why, to a point where the walls laugh and pencils dance.
- In Wayside School is Falling Down, there is a chapter called Kathy and D.J. where D.J. is upset, and Kathy wants to know why so she can keep him that way.
Trivia[]
- In the books, he has various nicknames, Kathy calls him Dumb Jerk, Dameon calls him Dojo, Myron calls him Deej, and Louis calls him Doctor Jolly.
- He thinks of Kathy as a friend for helping him out once, but it was all on accident and she was actually trying to make him more miserable.
- He does not appear in the cartoon, alongside Calvin, Paul, Jason, Kathy, Ron, Allison, Dameon, Terrence, Joy, Mac, Deedee, and Benjamin Nushmutt.
